General Information
Mississippi’s Motor Vehicle E-Lien Program transitions the Department from a paper lien process to an electronic lien system which aims to facilitate a more efficient and secure process between financial institutions and the Department through the use of a service provider.
All lienholders with a FEIN are required to release liens electronically within 14 days of satisfaction. If a lienholder fails to electronically release a lien within 14 days, then a $250 penalty may be assessed for each incident. Lienholders are also required to enroll in the program using one of the approved service providers listed below.

Lien Recertification
Active liens older than 8 years old that have not been satisfied must be re-certified in September and the deadline recertify liens is December 1. The lien recertification process occurs annually beginning in July and ending December 1st each year. For any liens that are not recertified, DOR will automatically remove those liens from the state system the following January.
