Elton Rayford King, 53, was arrested July 25, 2008 for possession of an illicit distillery and for possession of moonshine whiskey. Enforcement agents of the Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control along with agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Southwest Mississippi Narcotics Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at 1897 Highway 583 Southeast in Lincoln County. A small still and a small amount of mash and moonshine were found in King's mobile home. King may also face charges for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
During the search of King's residence, possible bomb making materials and home-made explosives were found. The Clinton Police Department Bomb Squad, the Jackson Police Department Bomb Squad, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms were called in to secure the residence and collect evidence.
Another resident at the residence is being questioned about the possible explosives and remains under investigation at this time.
King was transported and booked in the Lincoln County Jail.
The Lincoln County Fire Department and the McComb Regional Response Team also assisted with securing the site and handling any hazardous materials.
